With over 700 confirmed exhibitors, the trade show presents 8 exhibition themes, unseen projects and an event programme of about 80 meetings in its halls.

The wait is over for 34.BI-MU, the most important Italian exhibition dedicated to the industry of metal cutting and metal forming machine tools, robots, automation systems, digital and additive manufacturing, auxiliary and enabling technologies, scheduled to take place at fieramilano Rho from 9 to 12 October.

Promoted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the Italian machine tools, robots and automation systems manufacturers' association, and organised by EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE, BI-MU is the only Italian trade show for the sector with real international scope, the first one to open up to the world of connectivity for the industry. It is also a sustainable event, managed and organised according to the principles of environmental, economic and social sustainability, with ICIM ISO 20121 certification.

The exhibition has really great appeal to the sector stakeholders: more than 700 exhibitors, including many from abroad, will be taking part within the 4 halls (9-11, 13-15) of the exhibition centre.

“The large number of top-class exhibitors that will be present at the fair - stated Alfredo Mariotti, General Manager of UCIMU - confirm BI-MU as the event of reference for machine tools, and not only. As a result, we are very confident about the appeal to the public interested in visiting the exhibition. Our prediction is also supported by the positive data collected during the last edition of the event: in 2022, 95% of visitors said that they were interested in returning to this year's edition”.

The new themes on show, the high quality of the exhibited technologies and the offered initiatives make the trade show an unmissable and attractive event  for all those operators interested in discovering the innovations of the sector first-hand, identifying and understanding the future trends in the field and planning new business strategies.

The technology on show and the exhibition themes

In its 65 years of activity, BI-MU has proven - and will continue to do so in its next edition – that it is capable of narrating the technological evolution of the industry, identifying, in advance, trends and segments related to the world of machines, characterised by the most interesting dynamics of development.

Metal cutting, metal forming and additive machine tools, tooling, components and accessories, automation and robots, metrology, measuring and quality control, technologies for digital factories, subcontracting, services and consulting: these are among the main elements of the product offerings on show.

Moreover, in the wake of its success in 2022, BI-MU will relaunch its proposal and, around machine tools and production systems, the true heart of the event, it will juxtapose  8 exhibition themes to represent “all faces of innovation”, as the slogan accompanying the promotion of the event states.

RobotHeart, dedicated to robotics, automation, related technologies, systems and artificial intelligence for all manufacturing sectors; piùAdditive, focused on machines, materials and software for production with additive technologies; BI-MU Digital, centred on software, technologies for connectivity and data management, cybersecurity and sensors; Metrology and Testing, proposing measuring instruments, testing machines, machine vision, quality control; Power4machines, with mechatronic solutions, systems and components for power transmission; Heat and Surface Treatments, showing machines, plants and surface and heat treatments; The Composites, the great novelty of this edition, whose key players are manufacturers of composites and machines for processing them;  Consulting and Certification, offering consulting services for digitalisation, cybersecurity, sustainability & the environment, financial services: these are the 8 themes offered to the visitors who will be at 34.BI-MU.

Another novelty in this edition is the focus on Revamping & Retrofitting, the new exhibition project hosted at BI-MU, which will show how machine tools and plants can have a new life, if they are adequately renewed and equipped with new functionalities. With this new initiative - starring cutting and forming machines, robots and automation systems, which have been revamped and retrofitted - BI-MU confirms its focus on the issue of sustainability, already well highlighted in its traditional exhibition, also giving space to those who choose to extend the use and life of a machine, in line with the principles of the Circular Economy.

Education & Job

As a meeting point for operators in the sector, 34.BI-MU is also a contact opportunity for exhibiting companies, young people and professionals interested in new cooperation proposals in this field. A special UCIMU Academy programme of initiatives dedicated to students, with the aim of bringing the worlds of education and industry closer together, will accompany the event for its entire duration. The programme includes traditional free or guided visits of school groups (booking available on the event website) and the new ROBOTGAMES initiative.

ROBOTGAMES is the new contest of robotics and automation, addressed to young students from scientific high schools, technical-technological institutes and professional schools, who are called upon to try their hand at creating robotic automation prototypes, with application to the world of industry. Promoted by UCIMU Academy, sponsored by UCIMU Foundation and with the contribution of Fiera Milano, the initiative is organised by EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE and will be held in a dedicated area within one of the halls. The competition among the 10 best projects presented will be staged on Friday,11 October. The top three projects will then be awarded on Saturday, 12 October.

The events of 34.BI-MU

To complete the exhibition proposal, several side and cultural events are confirmed in the programme (about 80 meetings are planned for this edition).

In keeping with tradition, BI-MUpiù, the exhibition event arena, is back (Hall 11, Stand F26). Beside institutional meetings, it will host speeches by exhibitors on issues related to their business and the technologies on show, such as machine tools and mechanical technology, ICT and digital technologies, metrology and quality control,  robotics.

Among the scheduled events: the opening ceremony (Wednesday 9 at 10.30 a.m.), the ROBOTGAMES Award ceremony (Saturday 12), the UCIMU Prizes Award ceremony (Saturday 12) and the Master of Mechanics Award ceremony (Saturday 12). Moreover, the day of Friday 11 October will be completely dedicated to robotics: in addition to several speeches by companies from the sector, the arena will host conferences and round tables organised by SIRI, the Italian Robotics and Automation Association, by IFR, International Federation of Robotics and by I-RIM, Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Machines. All the arena events will be streamed on the exhibition website.

Even the AITA stand (Hall 15, stand F40) will make up a venue for events and speeches and will offer a programme of meetings dedicated to additive manufacturing, including the AITA 10-year Conference (Wednesday 9 at 2.30 p.m.), a meeting on biomedical topics (Friday 11 at 10 a.m.) and the “Women in 3D printing” round table (Saturday 12 at 10 a.m.).
